Short Bio
Dr. Leah Sharp is an instructional designer and educational consultant. She heads the Tutor Academy and co-leads both the AI Guide Academy and the Instructional Design Initiative. In her role, she supports faculty in designing effective, technology-enhanced learning experiences, with a particular focus on AI in education, blended learning, and active learning strategies.
Before joining ProLehre, Leah taught physics at California State University, East Bay, and the College of Marin. Drawing on her experience with flipped and fully online courses, she later transitioned into educational technology as a project manager for the MOOCs team at TUM.
Leah regularly conducts workshops on foundational teaching strategies, AI in education, blended learning, and the flipped classroom approach. She has also contributed to foreign language learning by leading workshops on AI applications in university-level language instruction. As a keynote speaker at the IEEE German Section (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), she has shared insights on the integration of AI into engineering education.
Beyond her teaching and consulting work, Leah initiated the Tools and Apps project, which evaluates and shares recommendations for use of specific digital tools in education. She is also involved in the EuroTeQ initiative, collaborating on international educational projects.
Leah holds a BA in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, an MS in Physics from San Francisco State University, and a PhD in Natural Sciences from TUM.
Responsibilities
- Consultations for instructors who are developing blended, hybrid, or online courses.
- Research on technical, pedagogic, and strategic development of blended, hybrid, or online courses.
- Advising lecturers in developing and implementing teaching strategies and courses.
- Training student teaching assistants to support in-person, blended, hybrid, or online courses.
