Short Bio

Andreas Fleischmann studied computer science and pedagogy at the University of Technology Darmstadt and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He then obtained his doctorate in software engineering at the Technical University Munich, where he subsequently worked as a senior research associate. Parallel to this, he worked as a trainer and consultant in higher education, first at the University of Technology Darmstadt and, from 2006 on, at ProLehre.

In 2017, ProLehre merged with the Media Center, and Mr. Fleischmann became director of the new institute. He is involved in numerous committees, is a member of various professional societies (German Society for Academic Didactics, Society for Media in Science, Society for Medical Education), and is co-editor of the New Handbook for Higher Education. In 2011, he became part of the network Lehreⁿ, and in 2014 he was accredited by the German Association for University Didactics.

Responsibilities

• Director: strategy and organizational development, personnel and budget planning, advising and committee work in the university management
• Provide advanced training for lecturers through workshops and online-seminars as well as individual advising and teaching observations
• Advise lecturers in developing and implementing teaching strategies and courses
• Promote a culture of excellent teaching in all TUM departments; determine field-specific needs of lecturers; design and implement courses in higher education teaching
