Forum on Professional Teaching
The sessions which will be tailored closely to the needs of the participants, will provide moderated discussions on central aspects of good teaching at TUM. Short inputs on current results of educational research will accompany and support the discussions. The forum aims to enhance the critical reflection of the individual´s teaching practice as well asto broader the ‘strategic repertoire’ inspired by colleagues from different departments. A strong focus will be laid on the transfer of ideas and concepts into ever-day teaching duty.
Central topics for the sessions:
• Learning outcomes – the red thread of efficient teaching and learning
• Activating large groups – far from ‘edutainment’
• Reducing the amount of topics – what is really worth teaching?
• Teaching for Research – Research for Teaching
Additional topics will be added according to participants´ needs.
The participants gain a detailed insight into current topics of teaching and learning. They get to know successful strategies from other subjects and subject cultures. They use criteria to reflect on their own teaching and deduce concrete measures for future teaching tasks. They both experience and create the benefit of collegial exchange across departmental borders.
The forum takes place in Garching and at the central campus. For information concerning Camus Garching please contact Dr. Annette Spiekermann, for questions related to the central campus please turn to Dr. Andreas Fleischmann.
